UBTech Hosts 2021 NurseTim Conference

Uintah Basin Technical College (UBTech) hosted the 2021 NurseTim Conference on October 7th and 8th. The conference brought together nurse educators from fourteen of the sixteen Utah System of Higher Education (USHE) institutions to learn from one another in a professional setting.

“This has been an awesome conference,” said Donna De Silva, an assistant rofessor of nursing at Southern Utah University, “ The content has been really good; I’ve been able to find a lot of useful information that I can implement in my classes.”

The two-day conference focused on a wide variety of healthcare and nurse education topics including, but not limited to, simulation learning, clinical best-practices, testing practices, clinical judgment teaching, and Next-Gen testing.

“Our students are prepared to take their National Council Licensure (NCLEX) exam at the end of our program as we typically sit at a 100% first-time pass rate,” said UBTech’s Director of Nursing and Health Professions, Lindsey Ellingford. “There has been a national demand to increase the level of students preparedness by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) who is implementing Next -Gen testing in 2023.”

The NurseTim Conference left an overwhelmingly positive impression, allowing attendees to build relationships, share experiences, and network among other nursing professionals.

“The NurseTim Conference has been amazing. There’s been mindboggling information that’ll be fabulous to go back and try and implement.” said Jan Call, Dixie Technical College ‘s director of practical nursing, “The greater thing besides the NurseTim Conference is the collegial collaboration between faculty and directors.”

While the professional development aspect of the NurseTim Conference was the star of the show, the attendees had nothing but praise for UBTech itself and its health professions facilities.

“I like the way the control room of the sim lab looks directly into the sim suite,” said Yvonne Manning, Bridgerland Technical College’s director of practical nursing. “Then you really have that ability to work at it and run a couple simulations at the same time. This is a really nice facility.”

UBTech is currently home to the number one practical nursing program in the state of Utah as voted on by bestvalueschools.com.
