Investing in Local Talent: Liberty Energy Supports UBTech Students Through Scholarship Donation
A strong workforce starts with opportunity, and thanks to a scholarship donation from Liberty Energy, more Uintah Basin students will have access to the training needed to build successful careers close to home.
Liberty Energy, a leading oilfield services company with 16 locations across the United States, established its Vernal operation three years ago and has quickly become an important part of the local energy industry. The company provides hydraulic fracturing, wireline services, LNG and dual-fuel solutions, gas services, and other support services to energy companies throughout the Uintah Basin.
As Liberty Energy continues to grow in the region, the company remains focused on developing a strong local workforce, with local residents currently making up approximately 25 percent of its nationwide workforce.
That commitment to local talent led Liberty Energy to partner with Uintah Basin Technical College (UBTech) through a scholarship donation designed to help students pursue technical education and career training opportunities.
For Liberty Energy, the decision to invest in scholarships was rooted in a desire to support both people and the local economy.
“We want to help build local employees and support Utah-based workers and Utah-based companies,” said Baylee Smuin, Office Manager for Liberty Energy. “College can be expensive, and we want to help people gain the skills they need to create a better future for themselves and their families.”
The partnership also aligns with Liberty Energy’s ongoing workforce needs. As the company continues serving oil and gas operators throughout the Uintah Basin, there is a steady demand for skilled employees in a variety of fields.
“We are always looking to hire,” said Brandon Dremer, Frac Manager for Liberty Energy. “There is a need for CDL drivers, mechanics, hazmat-certified employees, and other skilled professionals. We’re able to hire CDL drivers straight out of the UBTech CDL Program, which speaks to the quality of training students receive.”
For UBTech, partnerships with employers like Liberty Energy create valuable pathways from education to employment. Students not only receive financial support to pursue their training, but they also gain access to career opportunities with companies actively seeking skilled workers.
