UBTech Earns National Top Workplaces Culture Excellence Award for Purpose & Values

Uintah Basin Technical College (UBTech) has been recognized nationally for its commitment to fostering a workplace culture grounded in purpose, values, and employee engagement.

Earlier this year, UBTech partnered with TopWorkplaces.com to conduct an anonymous employee survey. Employees were invited to share feedback about workplace culture, leadership, communication, and engagement.

The survey not only provides organizations with valuable employee feedback but also serves as the basis for Top Workplaces awards. To be considered, organizations must meet participation requirements and are evaluated alongside employers of similar size.

UBTech has been recognized as a 2026 Top Workplaces Culture Excellence Award winner, earning the Purpose & Values Award in the 150-499 employee category. The award recognizes organizations that successfully communicate their mission and integrate their values into everyday workplace culture.

“At UBTech, our mission is centered on changing lives through education,” said Aaron Weight, President of UBTech. “Being powered by purpose drives our commitment to students, employees, and the communities we serve.”

“This recognition is a reflection of the incredible employees who bring that mission to life through their dedication, care, and commitment. We remain focused on serving students and strengthening the communities we serve.”

The recognition is especially meaningful because it is based entirely on employee feedback. UBTech achieved a participation rate significantly higher than the minimum requirement and above national averages for organizations of similar size.

Survey responses revealed that employees feel a strong connection to UBTech’s mission and values and believe their work makes a meaningful difference in the lives of students and the communities the college serves. Employees also reported feeling respected, valued, and supported in their roles.

“What I enjoy most about working at UBTech is getting the chance to make a real difference for our students,” said Heber Hamilton, IT Faculty at UBTech.

“We get to know them, watch them grow, and help them build skills that can truly change their future.”

Employee comments highlighted several strengths, including collaboration, meaningful work, and opportunities to contribute to the college’s continued growth.

“The culture at UBTech feels like a team because everyone is working together to accomplish a common goal,” said Jake Barboza, Construction Maintenance Specialist at UBTech.

Many respondents specifically recognized President’s Listening Tours, noting that they appreciate the opportunity to communicate directly with leadership and see tangible changes emerge from those conversations.

“I appreciate that we have opportunities to share our ideas and actually be part of where the college is going,” said Hamilton.

The Purpose & Values Award demonstrates UBTech’s ongoing commitment to creating an environment where employees understand how their work contributes to the college’s mission and where organizational values are reflected through daily actions and decisions.
