UBTech Community Surpasses 1776 Service Hour Goal

Earlier this year, UBTech President, Aaron Weight invited the Uintah Basin community to celebrate America’s upcoming 250th birthday by completing 1,776 hours of service before July 4, 2026. Today, the community has exceeded the goal, submitting nearly 1,900 hours of service through the UBTech.edu website.

The challenge, launched in March, was inspired by the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and encouraged people of all ages to serve others without expectation of compensation. Community members responded with volunteer work, neighborhood projects, helping friends and neighbors, and countless acts of kindness across the Uintah Basin.

“When we launched this challenge, I knew our community would embrace it,” said Aaron Weight. “Reaching nearly 1,900 hours of service is a powerful reminder of who we are. The Uintah Basin has always been a place where people help one another, the 1,776 challenge highlighted this spirit in a remarkable way.”

The 1776 Service Challenge united individuals, families, businesses, civic organizations, students, and community groups around a shared purpose. Participants logged hours from throughout the Tri-County area, proving every act of service makes a difference.

For UBTech, the challenge reflects values at the heart of The UBTech Way—service, community involvement, and meaningful connections.

“The hours submitted represent much more than a number,” Weight said. “Behind every hour is a person who chose to invest time in someone else. Those choices strengthen communities, build relationships, and create lasting impact.”

UBTech extends its gratitude to every individual and organization who contributed service hours and helped make the challenge a success. Together, the community demonstrated what can be accomplished when people unite around a common goal.
