FourPoint Resources Champions Education with $15,000 Scholarship Commitment to UBTech

UBTech is proud to announce a new partnership with FourPoint Resources, an oil and gas company headquartered in Denver, Colorado, which has committed $15,000 in scholarship funding to support local UBTech students. This generous contribution underscores FourPoint’s dedication to education and community development in the Uintah Basin. In addition, FourPoint has designated a portion of these scholarship dollars specifically for members of the Ute Indian Tribe, demonstrating its commitment to fostering opportunity and inclusion within the communities it serves.

FourPoint is a privately held acquisition, exploration, and production company with deep roots in the energy sector. Founded by the leadership team of Cordillera Energy Partners, FourPoint’s management brings more than 40 years of industry-leading experience and a history of building and selling successful companies. In January 2025, FourPoint, alongside equity partners Quantum Capital Group and Kayne Anderson, acquired Uinta Basin assets formerly operated by Ovintiv, Inc. Today, the company holds one of the largest contiguous acreage positions in the basin—126,000 net acres spanning Duchesne and Uintah counties. With plans to grow production and explore new development opportunities, FourPoint is committed to a long-term presence in the region.

FourPoint is known for operational excellence and for building strong community partnerships. The company believes energy development must go hand in hand with education and local engagement. One of its core values, Compassionate Stewardship, emphasizes “positively impacting the lives of our employees, partners, landowners and shareholders by caring for and about people, communities, assets and performance.” This scholarship donation reflects the value in action—investing in education to strengthen the local workforce and economy.

“Supporting education is an investment in the future of our industry,” said Tad Herz, President and CFO of FourPoint. “Our Utah field operations depend on highly skilled, dedicated people, and many of these individuals start their careers through specialized technical education programs like those offered at UBTech, one of our nation’s premier technical schools. Supporting these students is one of the best ways we can give back to the Uinta Basin community, while ensuring the long-term strength of our workforce.”

UBTech President Aaron Weight echoed that sentiment: “When companies like FourPoint invest in education, they invest in the future of our region. These scholarships open doors for students to gain technical skills that fuel local industry and strengthen our economy.”

“We are excited and proud to be an operator here in the Uinta Basin and see a long runway of opportunity for our company,” added Jenna Samek, Director of Corporate Communications. “We’re not only investing through the drill bit, but we’re also investing in the people and partnerships that make this basin so special.”

FourPoint has also secured capacity totaling 50,000 barrels per day to the Price River Terminal, prompting rail expansion to accommodate increased demand—another sign of the company’s long-term vision for the region.

By supporting UBTech scholarships, FourPoint is helping local students gain the skills needed for high-demand careers, ensuring that as the energy sector grows, so does the community.

UBTech leaders and FourPoint Resources representatives celebrate a new partnership with a ceremonial check presentation. FourPoint’s $15,000 donation will fund scholarships for UBTech students, including dedicated support for members of the Ute Indian Tribe and their direct descendants.
