UBTech Titans Shine at State SkillsUSA Competition
Students from Uintah Basin Technical College (UBTech) once again demonstrated their talent at the SkillsUSA Utah Leadership and Skills Conference, with an impressive display of skill and dedication. Eighty-six UBTech students participated in the event, showcasing their talents across various disciplines.
The results were nothing short of remarkable, as UBTech students clinched a staggering 51 medals, marking a record-breaking achievement. Twenty-four students secured gold medals, setting yet another record.
UBTech emerged as one of the top three institutions, taking home the highest number of medals in the state. Of the 86 competitors representing UBTech 77 percent placed in the top 5 statewide.
Bronze winners are: Dedan Wagner, post-secondary student, Automotive Service Technology; Skylee Bird, secondary student, Culinary Arts; Caleb Hadlock, secondary student, First Aid/CPR; Brendan Peterson, secondary student, Information Technology Services; Nancy Myers, secondary student, Medical Terminology; Evelyn Woodland, secondary student, Nurse Assisting; and the TeamWorks team of four secondary students: Bridger Jenkins, Ryder Olsen, Kabryn Whiting, and Stockton Whiting.
Silver winners are: Caitlyn Agee, secondary student, Basic Health Care Skills; Kendlee Foster, secondary student, Carpentry; Ashlyn Emmons, secondary student, Customer Service; Emily Anderson, secondary student, Information Technology Services; Iris Mercado, secondary student, Job Interview; Kyle Hadlock, secondary student, Medical Math; Matt Jensen, secondary student, in Motorcycle Service Technology.

“Champions in both the state and nation, our students embody the spirit of the Titans, examples of excellence and emerging as future leaders,” said UBTech President Aaron Weight. “Their mastery of technical skills not only propels personal growth but also bolsters our economy. We extend heartfelt congratulations to our outstanding students and faculty.”
Alegna Hanberg, Evelyn Woodland, Ashlynn Bascom and Brenden Peterson, UBTech students, won their State SkillsUSA Officer elections, a testament to their leadership qualities and dedication to the organization.
UBTech continues to excel across various categories, upholding its tradition of excellence this year, said Weight. The College showcased dominance by sweeping both the Information Technology Service and TeamWorks categories in the secondary division.
UBTech’s enduring legacy in welding persists, marking a decade of consecutive recognition in this field. Notably, a UBTech student has clinched the gold medal in Nursing Assistant for an impressive six years in a row.
Among the standout achievements, Ayden Stratz, a returning state gold medalist and a national gold medalist, shines in Motorcycle Service Technology once again.
Ronald Salguero Suchite, a returning state gold medalist, secures another opportunity to compete at the National Stage in Automotive Service Technology. Dmitry Simmons, also returning to Nationals, ventures into a new category, Information Technology Services.
Another noteworthy achievement goes to returning state medalists: Caleb Hadlock, Dylan Brixey, Gabriel Blunt, Hudson Scholes, Liam Smith, Sai Rasmussen, Skylee Bird, Pierce Woodward, Brianne Bird, and Ashlyn Emmons.
UBTech students competed at the SkillsUSA Utah Leadership and Skills Conference, not only achieving the highest number of state medal earners in UBTech’s history but also securing the most gold medals ever.
