Native Americans and single parents to benefit from new scholarship at UBTech

LaRose Construction, a family-operated and Native American-owned business, is making a profound impact on the future of education in the Uintah Basin. The company has established a scholarship at UBTech, to provide educational opportunities for Native Americans and students who are single parents.

LaRose Construction is the first Native American-owned company to partner with UBTech.

The scholarship is open to residents of Duchesne, Daggett, and Uintah counties who self-identify as Native American tribal members or their descendants, or as single parents. It covers 100 percent of tuition, fees, and books, removing financial obstacles for students pursuing their education at UBTech.

“We’ve been blessed in so many ways, and now it’s our turn to give back to the community that has supported us,” said company owner Erik LaRose.

UBTech President Aaron Weight expressed gratitude for the donation. “This scholarship will have a lasting impact on the lives of many students. It’s incredible to see businesses like LaRose Construction pay it forward, creating positive change for generations to come.”

The roots of LaRose Construction go back to 1999, when Lonnie Hogan, an entrepreneur, founded the company with humble beginnings—starting with a simple fence-building project. Through hard work and dedication, Lonnie built a foundation for future generations, providing a legacy for Erik LaRose, who now leads the company.

Under Erik’s leadership, LaRose Construction has expanded into a full-service provider for the oil and gas industry, specializing in heavy equipment and transportation services, frac sand, chemical services, and site preparation for drilling rigs. Today, the company has 30 employees and remains committed to maintaining strong community ties while fostering future success.

Erik’s connection to UBTech runs deep. Not only have several family members taken classes at the college, but Erik himself is a proud graduate of UBTech’s CDL program.

“Opportunities for our community are important, and we’re proud to help make a difference,” he said. “Our goal is to help others succeed in their careers and ultimately change their lives for the better.”

The company is currently hiring for positions such as heavy equipment operators, CDL drivers, and general laborers, offering competitive wages, insurance, and other benefits. If interested in applying for LaRose Construction please contact 435-722-1400.
