UBTech Shines Bright at 2025 National SkillsUSA Championships

Uintah Basin Technical College proudly continued its legacy of excellence at the 2025 National SkillsUSA Championships held in Atlanta, Georgia. An impressive 24 UBTech students placed in the top ten nationally, demonstrating elite talent across a wide variety of skilled trades and career-focused categories.

This year marked a historic milestone for the college, with nine students earning spots on the national podium—UBTech’s highest number of medalists to date. The team brought home one gold, four silver, and four bronze medals, earning national recognition and reinforcing UBTech’s commitment to career readiness and technical excellence.

Supported once again by Iowa Tanklines, UBTech sent 32 students to represent Utah on the national stage. The annual SkillsUSA Championships bring together the nation’s most talented students to compete in real-world, hands-on assessments in their respective trades.

“This year is another remarkable chapter in UBTech’s SkillsUSA legacy,” said UBTech President Aaron Weight. “To consistently produce national medalists year after year speaks volumes about our students, faculty, and the culture of excellence here at UBTech.”

Leading the charge, Ayden Stratz clinched the gold medal in Motorcycle Service Technology. This victory marks his second national title and third consecutive podium placement.

“I’m thankful to my instructors and to UBTech for their endless support and encouragement,” Said Stratz.

The Health Knowledge Bowl team, composed of Ariana Bess, Jessica Hatch, Dacey Jorgensen, and Evelyn Woodland, earned a silver medal for their outstanding teamwork and knowledge in the health professions category.

UBTech students also brought home four bronze medals. Merek Sharp was recognized in Medical Math, and Strayden Olsen placed in Welding—adding to his gold from last year and making him a two-time national medalist. Pierce Woodward earned bronze in Carpentry, while Wyatt McKee claimed a bronze in Power Equipment Technology.

Just off the podium, Audie Christensen finished fourth in Medical Assisting, Amanda Boyer placed fourth in Practical Nursing, and Zayerra Flores earned fourth place in Welding Sculpture.

The Welding Fabrication Team, which included Duncan Ovard, Chester Parrish, and Jaygen Stubbs, achieved a top-five finish, showcasing strong collaboration and craftsmanship.

Other UBTech students placed in the top ten nationally. Emily Anderson competed in Information Technology Services, Taw Jackson in Diesel Equipment Technology, and Ronald Salguero in Automotive Service Technology, returning to the competition after his podium finish last year. Nicole Ehrman competed in Nurse Assisting, Amber Davis in Medical Terminology, and the TeamWorks team—made up of Grant Franklin, Emmett Gregory, Hanssen Leis, and Damein Taylor secured a top-ten national placement.

Once again, UBTech’s national campaign was made possible by the unwavering support of Iowa Tanklines. Owners Todd and Kathy Bro have been sponsoring UBTech’s SkillsUSA competitors since 2019.

“It’s an honor to stand behind these incredible students,” said Todd Bro. “They’re proof that hands-on education changes lives.”
