Custom Fit Helps Businesses with Training & Funding

 By Lezlee Whiting

Uintah Basin businesses have a powerful ally in Custom Fit – a 40-year-old customized training and funding program offered through the State of Utah and Uintah Basin Technical College.

Custom Fit helps your business find trainings your employees need and can build customized trainings for your workforce. It also has funding available to help businesses of all sizes with 40 percent of the cost of training. The company contributes 60 percent.

The training can be done anywhere: at UBTech, online, out of the area, and even out of state. Custom Fit also assists with the cost of bringing a trainer to the work site. Eligible training is that which helps your workforce be safer, smarter, more efficient, and better prepared to work with the latest technology and required skill sets.

“Custom Fit truly empowers businesses in the Uintah Basin to uplevel the skills of their employees, not only by funding specialized training but also by alerting them to workshops and short-term evening courses offered locally,” said Carrie Wallace, a licensed clinical social worker with EMDR 808 Pacific Counseling.

The state legislature funds Custom Fit through taxes paid by Utah businesses.

Because of their compatible missions a Custom Fit office is housed in each region of the state in that region’s technical college. Just like UBTech, Custom Fit works in partnership with industry and the community it serves, promoting economic development.

Custom Fit also provides customized short-term training for the community.

The application process is simple and the required paperwork for the 40 percent training reimbursement is minimal, said Lezlee Whiting, UBTech’s Custom Fit Senior Officer.
