• Application period opens three months and closes one month prior to each cohort’s start date and closes one month before the program’s start date.
• Pharmacy Technician program is a hybrid program, with in-person lab days held on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Externship hours and locations vary.

Entrance Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• Math 12.0 grade level
• Reading 12.0 grade level
• Pass Random Drug Screening
• Pass Background Check
• Act Score of 19 = GLE 12th
• Act Score of 18 = GLE 11th

Upon completion of the program, students must pass PTCE Exam to license as Pharmacy Technicians.

Students in their senior year of high school who are on track to graduate may enroll in the program if they will be 18 years of age before externship.

Externship: 

• An externship of 200 hours is required as part of the Pharmacy Technician program. This training opportunity will give the student on-the-job experience which will be valuable in gaining employment.

Skills & Duties: 

•  Interpret medication orders and prescriptions
• Perform mathematical calculations
• Fill prescription orders
• Identify drugs by brand and generic names
• Understand therapeutic classifications
• Order and stock medications
• Maintain drug inventory

Licensure Requirements: 

• 18 Years of Age or Older
• High School Diploma or GED
• Pass a Background Check
• Complete a State Approved Pharmacy Tech Training Program
• Pass a State Approved National Exam
• Pay Licensure Fees

Information Technology:

• Students can use the UBTech Computer Lab located in the classroom or bring their own internet capable device for educational use in class.

Electronic Student Resources:

• Canvas orientation course contains electronic learning resources that can be used throughout your time in the program. Each canvas course links to these resources, and they will be updated regularly.

• Canvas can be accessed from any internet-connected computer at the following URL: https://ubtech.instructure.com/login.
  For technical problems encountered while in Canvas, use the Help button in Canvas and the “Report a Problem” link. Response time on support requests will be no more than 24-hours within the operational schedule of the program. A general orientation to Canvas can be found in the New Student Orientation, but faculty will also offer an orientation specific to technology in your program on your first day of class.
